Chief Rachel Marshall

The second woman to become a Mi'kmaq First Nation Community Chief in Nova Scotia. Rachel was Chief from December 18, 1969 to December 18 1971, and was a Band Councillor for several terms. But, most important, she was an effective fighter for human rights for the Mi’kmaq in Nova Scotia and was an early supporter of the Native Women’s organization. Photo 1990s
